County plans aerial mosquito spraying west of Military Trail Sunday night
Palm Beach County mosquito control plans to spray from aircraft starting about 30 minutes after sunset on Sunday, Oct. 11, weather permitting. The target zone is roughly 265,000 acres of populated land west of Military Trail, taking in parts of Delray Beach, Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, Wellington and the Glades towns. The county points to rising mosquito counts and the threat of disease they carry. If weather scrubs Sunday's flights, the county says it will try again each evening until a spray is finished. The county's spray hotline, 561-642-8775, says whether the flights happened. Heading out after dark? Cover up with long sleeves and pants, use an EPA-registered repellent and empty standing water around your home.
