Off-hours tickets from the Banyan Creek camera dismissed, officials say
Refunds at Banyan Creek, plus a shell artist at the Cornell and Beehive's last weekend.
At Banyan Creek Elementary, the speed camera and the flashing school-zone beacon were out of sync, so the camera issued notices outside the designated school-zone hours. Officials said every incorrect notice from that location has been dismissed, and any of those $100 fines already paid have been refunded.
RedSpeed reported 4,945 notices across the program at a city meeting this week, covering Aug. 10 through Sept. 18. The next update on the program is expected in December.
Ronda Gale turns broken Delray shells into rose shapes
Ronda Gale's sculptures start as broken shells gathered on Delray's beach, arranged into rose-like forms. The raw material is local in the plainest way. She moved to Delray on Jan. 1, 2025, into an apartment across from Anchor Park, and she created the Honeybee Garage mural in the Andre Design District.
A selection of her work is in Persistence of Matter, in the Upper Level Galleries of the Cornell Art Museum, 51 N. Swinton Ave. The exhibition closes Sunday, Sept. 27.
Beehive's last weekend at the Delray Beach Playhouse

Rob Long warns Amendment 3 tax cuts could shift costs into local fees
State Rep. Rob Long, D-Delray Beach, is a former city commissioner, and his concerns about the proposed Amendment 3 property-tax cuts start with local budgets. In an interview with the News Service of Florida, carried by WLRN, he argued that lost local revenue could shift costs into fees that affect renters and businesses and could put pressure on police and fire budgets.
