Sidewalk parking in Delray now carries a $250 fine

September opens with a $250 sidewalk-parking fine, two land-use boards meeting on consecutive nights, and an August 21 all-clear for NW 5th Avenue water. Here's what changed in Delray and what's on the calendar this week.
Delray Beach is enforcing a $250 fine against cars parked across sidewalks. WPTV reports that many residents support keeping sidewalks clear but say the city also needs more legal parking spaces.
Those are separate problems. A blocked sidewalk can push pedestrians, wheelchair users, and strollers toward traffic, while a fine does not add parking supply.
The immediate change is what it costs to block the sidewalk. The open question is whether the city follows enforcement with more places for residents to park.
NW 5th Avenue water is cleared again
The city rescinded precautionary boil-water notice Case #0818 on August 21. Tap water is cleared for normal use again at the affected NW 5th Avenue addresses.
The notice covered 200 A, B and C; 202, 203, 212, 215, 217, 222, 223, 226, 227, 231, 232, 233, 236, 237, 241, 244 and 245 NW 5th Avenue.
Residents and businesses at those addresses can return to using tap water normally. Questions go to the city at 561-243-7312.
Two sister kitchens plan wine dinners for restaurant month
September is restaurant month in Delray, and sister restaurants Brulé Gastro-Kitchen and Rose's Daughter are each hosting an exclusive wine dinner.
Brulé goes first on September 24 at 6:30 PM, pairing a seven-course menu with Orin Swift wines. Tickets are $125, and the restaurant is at 200 NE Second Avenue.
Rose's Daughter follows September 30 at 6:30 PM with five courses and wines from Puglia, Sicily and Calabria. Tickets are $80; the restaurant is at 169 NE Second Avenue. Contact each restaurant directly for tickets.
A Latin American printmaking show opens this month

Masters of the Matrix: Latin American Printmaking opens September 20 at The ANNEX, 290 SE 2nd Avenue, and runs through January 31, 2027. Suzanne Snider curated the exhibition.
The show includes multiples by Latin American artists, including Costa Rican artist Francisco Amighetti and his 1981 chromoxylograph, *El Recién Llegado (The Newcomer)*. A matrix is the plate, block or screen used to pull a print, so the title points to the process behind the work as well as the finished image.

Historic board weighs two demolitions on George Bush Boulevard

The board will consider demolition and replacement-home requests for the east and west parcels at 14 George Bush Boulevard. It also has a new single-family residence at 514 NE Third Avenue, rooftop air-conditioning equipment at 236 N. Dixie Boulevard, replacement windows at 300 SE Seventh Avenue and changes at 23 S. Swinton Avenue on the agenda.

At 755 SE Seventh Avenue, the owner seeks to convert a two-car garage into living space and reduce required off-street parking from two spaces to zero. At 101 NE 11th Street, the request would reduce a side setback for a second-story addition. A third request, at 1109 Miramar Drive, would reduce the rear setback for a swimming pool.
